The name came to me on one quiet night, inspired by the trance-like glow of a blank blue television screen at 2 a.m. - like a quiet portal to unknown possibilities.
Blue Blank focuses on leather goods and upcycled clothing, emerging from my practice as a fine artist and my deep interest in the body as a site of performance. I explore fashion as a powerful signifier of desire and longing, as well as a mirror reflecting the times we live in, inspired by my interest in history of fashion, anthropology, and a reverence for the unknown.
As a self- taught fashion designer, DIY has always been a way of life for me. Growing up in a Korean household, every empty jar, tin, and scrap of fabric was repurposed without fail. At the same time, my upbringing as an immigrant in Aotearoa instilled in me the Kiwi spirit of DIY ingenuity, rooted in a long history of necessity and self-resourcefulness. These experiences have shaped how I approach materials: I hand-select and source everything locally, emphasizing minimal waste and a narrative-driven process designed to create a unique experience, as a tangible oxymoron.

Currently, Blue Blank is based in New York City and operates as part of Force Majeure LLC.
